This exquisite 1920s dress has some of the most phenomenal bead work I have yet to see on a dress. It has an almost 3D aspect to it and the workmanship is incredible. The base of the dress is a weighted silk in a matte black and it is still strong and sturdy. Onto this base is a beaded design that uses fantastic couture level bead work. The beads are entirely hand applied and you can see all of the lovely handwork on the interior. Its really an amazing piece of art. The design itself depicts a flock of birds hat fly and sit in stunning pink floral trees. Bars run down the dress and through and around the design suggesting a cage or perhaps a window. I love that the design is different all the way around the dress so that every angle you feel like you are looking at a new scene. It is incredibly beautiful and the bead work is dense so the design has a 3D aspect to it. The neckline is cut wide and accented with a band of silk and cut to sit slightly off shoulder with two bands sf silk that suspend it from the shoulder. The body is loose and tubular as was the fashion of the day with one side of the hem slit up the leg a bit. It is quite weighty due to the extensive beading and really a extraordinary piece. Strong and wearable with the care and love. This is one of the best 1920s pieces I have ever seen and I strongly suspect that this is an unlabeled piece by one of the more important houses of the day. The level of work in this piece would only be found in the highest couture of today! Museum quality. Excellent antique condition
The dress is unlined and slips on to wear. The silk base of the dress appears to be strong and sturdy. The vast majority of the beads are present. I see missing beads on the tops of the shoulder straps and there is the very occasional bead missing here and there with a swirl or two of the base of the tree at the back being the most apparent but it doesn't deter from the design at all and for a piece of this age with this beading I would still rate it as excellent. I see no other flaws and it appears to have been worn very little if at all and is wearble with the care it would deserve to be worn with. The dress is remarkably sound and shockingly beautiful. It is almost 100 years old and is considered to be in museum quality condition.

Note that antique and twenties pieces are final sale. They will be packed exceedingly well and we only sell pieces that will stand up to the stress of shipping, however, having pieces potentially shipped multiple times through multiple customs and countries is too hard on garments that are historically important and deserve to be treated with love and care. Please purchase accordingly.
